Make your own crayon lipstick

Yes, we're talking about creating makeup out of kids' crayons. It is not only ready in less than 15 minutes, but is also cost-effective and lets you choose from a wide variety of colours.

It works best for costume parties where you want to stand out, but not invest in expensive lipstick for a colour you won't wear otherwise. Though crayons are mostly made of paraffin wax and non-toxic pigments, we don't guarantee their safety. So if you plan to wear it daily, use it at your own discretion. Also, the lipstick will smell (maybe even taste) of crayons, so if you do not like that prospect, beware.

The process of making it is a bit messy, hence we advise you to keep lots of waste paper ready. Also, molten wax can be very dangerous, so be cautious while handling it. Apply the lipstick with your fingers, as the heat from them will soften the wax. Since it will turn out to be matte, swipe some gloss over it if you like some shine. The application might not be very even, but the colour will stay for a long time.

Here's how to make them...

Steps for diy lipstick

- Chose a new crayon stick of your choice - Peel the label off. You can run it under warm water to take it off easily - Fill a pan with some water, put it on the stove and let it boil - Put a glass bowl over it - Put half a spoon of coconut oil and one-fourth spoon vegetable oil in the bowl - Break the crayon into small pieces and put it in the bowl with the oils - Allow it to melt and stir it till the crayon mixture is smooth - Switch off the flame and carefully transfer the mixture into a mould - Transfer the mould to the refrigerator and let it settle down for 15-20 minutes - To clean the bowl, let the leftover colour cool down. Then wipe it with paper.
